The University of Szeged (SZTE) has been ranked highly in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities 2022 ranking of higher education. Our institution has made progress on a global, European and national scale, and has achieved significant improvements in the fields of physics and clinical medicine.
U.S. News & World Report has recently published its latest ranking of the Best Global Universities for Higher Education 2022. The list includes 1750 universities from more than 90 countries, assessed on 13 indicators of research performance and academic recognition. The US ranking included the best institutions at global and European level, as well as by discipline.
The University of Szeged is ranked 712th in the world this year and 293rd in Europe. Both results represent an improvement compared to previous positions, with the university moving up fourteen places in the former and fifteen in the latter. In addition, SZTE has also improved its ranking in Hungary: from the previous fourth place, it has now moved up to the podium.
Looking at the discipline lists,, our institution has also achieved good results. In physics, it has moved up 90 places to take 304th place, while in national field it has become the second best institution by moving up to the podium. SZTE also improved its ranking in clinical medicine, where it moved up 34 places to 494th place, and from third to second place among Hungarian universities as well. In the field of chemistry, the Tisza-based University is also in a podium position in Hungary, while it is ranked 783rd world-wide.
The motto of the University of Szeged is “440 years in the service of education and research, 100 years for the development of Szeged and the region”, which is reflected in its excellent rankings, among others.
