Obrebska-Starkel B: Über die thermische Temperaturschichtung in Bergtälern

Summary: On the basis of her own observations and the results of other workers in the observation of the nocturnal temperature layers the author states that the nocturnal temperature stratification develops (regardless of the altitude above sea level) in the following way: 1) the inversion layer of the valley bottom, 2) the warm slope zone, 3) the summit zone. In the author's opinion the upper boundary of the inversion layer may be regarded as the warmest level of the temperature profile of the valley. The author thinks that since the nocturnal temperature decreases with growing altitude in the warm slope zone, the altitude where the temperature is even higher than the lowest temperature of the valley bottom may be regarded as the upper limit of the warm slope zone. The changes of the temperature characteristics in the summit zone are connected with the temperature changes of the free atmosphere.
